Hi, I'm Liza and I love making things. Especially dolls, which I’ve been bringing into this world since 2015.
There’s something exhilarating about mixing materials, textures and patterns to find just the right look. And then hand painting the eyes to give each doll its own very unique personality. But these are the more mechanical aspects of my production process. There is so much more that goes into the development of every doll I make.
Miriam, Clyde, Denise, Taylor, Gigi, Piper, Vivian, Morris…each doll I create represents a unique outpouring of my imagination. I generally start with a vague concept of what this doll will look like when it’s done. But then something happens. There’s a “letting go” moment when my imagination takes over. And the practical, this is how it’s done side of me, stands aside. I’ve lost control of the process and that’s when the real fun starts. My dolls become quirky and develop unexpected characteristics. The little stories I write about them write themselves. I just go with the flow.
But not all my dolls are products of an imagination run wild. Over the past couple years, I’ve been making custom dolls. These dolls are inspired by someone special in your life. Just send me a photo, let me know about the subject’s hobbies, unique traits and maybe even a quirk or two. That’s all I’ll need to get started. Of course, once I get going my imagination will take over. I can’t help it but I can guarantee you’ll love the results.
